Local cuisine

While I’m in India, I’ve decided to indulge in all of the local cuisine. I have eaten various unknown fruits and vegetables from street carts and had sugar cane juice from a roadside eatery that would never be allowed to operate in the states. The cane was put through a press with water (local not filtered) and poured into a glass. It was warm and yellowish-green in color. I expected it to be sweet; instead, it tasted like it looked.

Vikram & I went to Milan, a local hangout across from the hotel in Aurangabad. It was one of the best meals I’ve had in India. Vikram went over to the restaurant earlier in the evening and asked the cook to make a fresh chicken. When I say fresh, I mean the cook went out back, got a live chicken, showed it to Vikram and made us dinner. The sauce was wonderful having a kick to it but not too spicy. According to Vikram, you have to ‘eat it properly’ which means do not leave any meat on the bones. He told me if you really want to eat it properly, you crack the bones with your teeth and suck out the marrow….I have no intention of being that proper.

Roberta has been practicing yoga since 1988 and has been teaching yoga since 1994. Roberta has studied yoga at the Ramamani Iyengar Yoga Memorial Institute in Pune, India during June 2011, February 2014 and attended Abhijata's intensive in Pune, India December 2016. Roberta is currently enrolled in Peentz Dubble's two year Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training Program. Additionally, Roberta completed training and certification with Elise Browning Miller as 'Yoga for Scoliosis' instructor. She completed a 500 hour Hatha Yoga Certification program with AURA Wellness Center and is registered with Yoga Alliance as an E-RYT 500. She has been a Certified Meditation Teacher since June 2007 and has been an Usui Reiki Practitioner since 1989. Roberta's Personal Practice Philosophy: Health issues have changed and deepened my practice. You will see many photos of me using a variety of props. On days I don't feel well, instead of saying, "I can't practice today", Iyengar Yoga has taught me to say, "How can I practice today".
